The Donegal County has a new public art project, Lovely Weather Art and Climate Change Project, and they are only weeks away from a final vote on a location and feature in Donegal to be "twinned with a physical feature on Mars to the Regional Cultural Centre in Letterkenny."
John Cunningham, assistant manager of the Regional Cutural Centre says, “The criteria are that it must be in the Milford/Letterkenny electoral area of Co Donegal and it can be a peninsula, an island, a beach, even a rock.”
Once the votes are in, they will then send the winning feature to NASA and "In the end, it will mean that a little part of Mars will be permanently named after a place in Donegal,” John Cunningham expains.
I have a feeling this may become a trend for counties, cities, towns, and villages around the World, and at least it's ackowledging climate change and promoting lovely weather. It's just a happy story all around and had to share it!
